Biography

My name is Derek Richardson. I graduated from Villanova University in 2001 and from the Seton Hall University School of Law in May of 2005. I began my legal career as an intern for the Honorable Frank A. Buczynski, Jr., J.S.C., Presiding Judge of the Superior Court, Civil Part, Ocean County. After I graduated from law school, I was blessed with the opportunity to serve as the law clerk for the Honorable James P. Courtney, Jr., of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Ocean County. My experiences with Judge Courtney have made me a better lawyer and a better person.

I joined this firm as an associate in September 2006 and became a partner in the firm on Jan. 1, 2013. My partners are excellent attorneys, but even better human beings.

I practice in the fields of workers' compensation, personal injury and criminal law. Most of my time, however, is spent working with my workers' compensation clients. Since joining the firm, I've been fortunate to help hundreds of clients injured at work and elsewhere. This practice requires patience, an attention to detail and compassion. I enjoy doing what I do because unlike some professions and occupations, you are able to actually see the difference you make.

Moving back to my home town, Toms River, New Jersey, has allowed me to practice in an area I love and reconnect with old friends and acquaintances. I've had the opportunity to help some of them with legal issues. I look forward to continuing to represent the residents of Ocean and Monmouth counties with passion and perseverance. If you've been injured at work or due to the fault of another, give me a call if I can help.
