May 8, 2008 - 2 Suits Filed Against Wendy's for E. coli Outbreaks

Two women are suing Wendy’s after they were hospitalized for weeks due to E. coli infections. Health officials believe that they were exposed to the potentially deadly bacteria after eating contaminated lettuce in a Wendy’s meal.

The women, Lesiel Calvert and Megan Richards, who ate the tainted food at a Wendy’s restaurant in North Ogden, Utah, filed suit this week in a Salt Lake City federal court. The lawsuits are seeking unspecified damages.

Dozens of customers became ill after eating food from Wendy's in June 2006. The fast food giant apologized in 2006, claiming it was an isolated incident in North Ogden.
