August 16, 2007 - Trespasser Bit by Police Dog

A 16 year-old was arrested Tuesday night after he allegedly broke into the house of a female acquaintance to steal a letter. The suspect, who police did not identify because he is a minor received several bites from a police dog and a trip to Juvenile Hall.

The resident came home and saw someone moving around his house, police said. The resident was not expecting anyone home at the time.

He called police and officers surrounded the house. A K-9 officer and his dog, Kai, were called in, and police made an announcement that if the suspect did not come out, the dog would be sent inside.

When the suspect did not come out, Kai was sent in to find him. That's when officers positioned behind the house saw him try to escape to through a rear window.

Seeing police, the teen turned around and headed back toward the dog, police said.

The suspect suffered several bites to the shoulders and ankle. He was arrested and released to his parents.
